KANYASHREE 2.0 RECEIVED MANTHAN AWARD'2014
The Kanyashree Prakalpa portal Kanyashree Online 2.0 designed by the Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre, WB has won the Manthan Award South Asia and Asia Pacific 2014 under the category "Women and Empowerment". The simplicity and accessibility of the scheme was highly appreciated by the Grand Jury. The fact that 2 million girls have already availed of the schemes impressed the Jury. They felt that the scheme will go a long way in empowering the adolescent girls of the State.

Kanyashree Prakalpa 2013, a CCT scheme for improving the status and well being of the girl child in the state has been formulated by the Department of Women Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal. The scheme aims at incentivizing schooling of all
West Bengal has an adolescent (10-19 years) population of 1.73 Crores,
out of which 48.11% are girls. The age group 10-14 years forms 9.3% of the total population
while 15-19 forms 9.7% of the total population (Source: Detailed Tables-SRS based on Census2011;
